Looks like ‘The Shallows’ director is heading to the comic-book movie world. A new report claims that Director Jaume Collet-Serra is top choice for ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel.
Although not a hit with the critics and most audiences, last year’s ‘Suicide Squad’ was financially a huge hit for a studio. Which means that a sequel is inevitable, and possible directors have been floating around for awhile. Mel Gibson was even considered by the studio, but it seems like that has died down.
Jaume Collet-Serra, known for such films as ‘The Shallows’ and ‘Non-Stop’, is currently the top choice to helm the upcoming DCEU sequel. No word on when the film could start shooting, as that depends on star Will Smith and Margot Robbie’s schedule.
I think he’s a safe choice, not a bad one just pretty average in my opinion. His films are pretty entertaining, but not very memorable. It’ll be interesting to see what he brings to the table if he indeed signs on to helm it.
