It wouldn't be Top Gun without the best pilots. The Iceman is back!
According to THR, it is confirmed that Val Kilmer will reprise his role as the ice-cold top pilot in flight school, Iceman, for the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick.
The sequel to the 1986 hit film is set to star Tom Cruise who has just recently teased that the film has started filming. The original film was about a careless, stubborn pilot Maverick (Tom Cruise) who joined the United States Navy elite fighter weapons school, and sets out to prove just how great of a pilot he really is.
Kilmer has been in the headlines most recently regarding his health. Regardless of his questionable health, Kilmer has still been picking up acting jobs. He has just finished shooting a comedy called 1st Born.
Joseph Kosinski will direct the sequel from a script written by original Top Gun scribes Jim Cash and Jack Epps Jr. Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean) will serve as producer.
Make sure you have your flight suit on because Top Gun: Maverick is set to fly into theaters July 12, 2019.
