The Academy award-winning team of Damien Chazelle and Ryan Gosling reunite for Universal Pictures' First Man.
The duo last teamed on La La Land, which won six Academy Awards. First Man is nothing close to a musical and is all drama and suspense. This time the two will take on the story of Neil Armstrong and his historic mission to be the first man on the moon.
On the heels of their six-time Academy Award®-winning smash, La La Land, Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for Universal Pictures’ First Man, the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969. A visceral, first-person account, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost—on Armstrong and on the nation—of one of the most dangerous missions in history.
Chazelle has proven that he knows how to do both suspense and drama as he showcased both with the Academy Award-winning Whiplash. We have all seen what Gosling can do throughout his career, throw in an academy award-winning writer in Josh Singer (Spotlight) and you have a lot of potential for another Oscar-nominated film.
First Man stars Ryan Gosling Claire Foy, Pablo Schreiber, Kyle Chandler, Jason Clarke, Brian d'Arcy James, Corey Stoll, Christopher Abbott, Patrick Fugit, Shea Whigham, Lukas Hass, and Cory Michael Smith.
