A while back it was revealed a ‘John Wick’ spin-off TV series was in the works, but now we have confirmation that it’s officially happening. Not only that, but it will be set on the STARZ channel, so you know it’s gonna get real bloody.
The show will be titled ‘The Continental’, and it will be set in the John Wick universe (yeah I know). The show will start with a bang as the pilot will be directed by Chad Stahelski, the co-director of John Wick and director of John Wick: Chapter 2. The president of STARZ Chris Albrecht has this to say about the upcoming TV series.
“This series is truly unlike anything else on TV, The Continental promises to include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick movie franchise as well as introducing some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world.”
John Wick fans should be very excited about the prospect of seeing epic shootouts on the weekly basis. Based around The Continental, a popular hotel for assassins located in New York City, it will surely bring some interesting storylines from the film to the small screen.
Keanu Reeves will, in fact, be making his appearance on the TV spinoff. STARZ’s head of programming Carmi Zlotnik said during the TCA that “You can expect to see him at some point in the series.” Reeves will be a producer on the show, so an appearance was extremely likely anyways.
