Remember back in 2013 when that long-anticipated Halo TV series was announced? Well, get ready for more waiting…but rest assured, it’s still coming. TV Guide caught up with the president and CEO of Showtime David Nevins at January’s Television Critics Association event to get an update, and only has this to say:
“It’s still in very active development”
So, not a whole lot to go on. But after over four years of silence on the matter, fans everywhere were starting to worry if it would ever really happen. Fear not, loyal gamers! President of programming at Showtime, Gary Levine, also had a comment for TV Guide:
Halo “is absolutely still in development, still moving forward and I’m encouraged by what we’ve seen so far.” he didn’t go into detail about a release date or what part of the Halo universe the series will explore, but mentioned, “It’s still live action, and it will definitely satisfy the fans of Halo and I think also satisfy the drama audiences of Showtime.”
Steven Spielberg has been marked to bring the series to life, which can definitely go down in the pros column. Given the franchises popularity, and the fact that it’s brought in over $3 billion for Microsoft, there is no wonder executives are eager to continue expanding the already massive universe. Personally, I would love to see Master Chief kick some butt on the small screen!
