Wonder Woman 1984 is bringing back our favorite Amazon in a glorious flashback scene. Robin Wright has just confirmed that she will return as Antiope in the highly anticipated sequel.
Wright recently spoke to Net-A-Porter about her current projects. The House of Cards star revealed that she has already finished work on the sixth and final season of her Netflix series and is preparing for her directorial debut. In addition to that, Wright shared that she is "shooting a flashback sequence in Spain with Connie Nielsen."
This is certainly good news for fans who fell in love with the fearless Antiope in the first Wonder Woman film. Although both Wright had a brief cameo in Justice League, most of the action ended up with Nielsen's Queen Hippolyta. It is still unclear what Antiope and Hippolyta's scene will be about but hopefully, it will feature more fighting for Wright and Nielsen.
The film is set to introduce the iconic Wonder Woman villain Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig, with Game of Thrones alum Pedro Pascal set to take an important but as of yet still undisclosed role. Some fans have theorized that Pascal could portray G. Gordon Godfrey as a way to introduce the world we’ll further explore in Ava DuVernay’s New Gods.
Wonder Woman 1984 is scheduled for release on November 1, 2019.
