Veteran actor Robert De Niro has nearly done it all when it comes to his legendary acting career. But there is one thing he has not yet done and that is: acting in a comic book film. Well, that all can change as the actor may be joining Joaquin Phoenix's Joker film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, De Niro is in negotiations to join the dark and gritty character study film as a talk show host that is instrumental to Joker's origin. It is very interesting that De Niro is in talks to join the film for a couple of reasons.
One, De Niro is obviously a great veteran actor that can do just about any type of film but the more interesting part is that the film is said to have a tone along the likes of Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy - both Scorsese films that De Niro starred in.
De Niro is the second big name to be in talks for the upcoming DC film. Just last week it was also reported that Deadpool 2 star Zazie Beetz is in talks to play the love interest of Joaquin Phoenix's character. If the two deals go through, it looks like it will have a very star-studded and well-rounded cast, especially for a low budget comic book film.
Joker is set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
